Starting from R23 release, the PDM concept of configuration is mapped on the Inventor concept of Model State.
From Inventor 2023, if the option
Environmnet→Configurations→
Save configurations as distinct records
is checked, every Model State into a part/assembly will be saved as a different record with different unique_id.
Previously, the configuration was mapped on the Inventor concepts of Level of Detail (obsolete) and iFactory (not fitting the concept).
Those concepts are currently handled separately from the configuration: iFactory will still generate a record in the Parent_child table to keep track of the relation.
The option above option is enabled only starting from Inventor 2023.
Due to Inventor Apprentice limitations it is not possible to update the iProperties of a file containing multiple Model States while it is closed, opening the file and performing a save will update the iProperies.
