If you're editing an assembly, MechworksPDM checks the read-only state of components in top-down editing
When you change a component's dimensions from within an assembly, MechworksPDM ensures that the component can be updated by the current user.
The component can be updated if:
•the component is a new component, still not inserted into the MechworksPDM database
•the component exists in the MechworksPDM database, and it's state is NEW
•the component exists in the MechworksPDM database, and it's state is CHECKED-OUT, and the current user is the person that has checked-out the component
If you cannot update the component, you're notified of the limitation and you can continue editing the locked items, but when you save the assembly all the modifications on the locked sub-components will be discarded and therefore lost; editing locked sub-components still makes sense if you intend to open each of them and save a copy before closing the assembly.
