MechworksPDM intervenes each time you save a document from the CAD to retrieve or refresh information related to the active document and store it into the database. During the save process, if MechworksPDM is in transparent mode you are not requested to input any further information about the document being saved. All the information can be retrieved for viewing or editing subsequently.
If the following option is activated
Open/Save→SaveAs→
Use DataEntr.LST data entry script on MechworksPDM 'Save as...'
each time you save a document with save as, the executable scripting in the file is run. By default the scripting calls the Save Wizard to categorize the document and saves it in a predefined directory path. For further information, refer to the topic Defining a behaviour at save time.
If you save with a different name a document belonging to an assembly, for instance save a part in another directory, MechworksPDM maintains the hierarchical reference between the assembly and the pre-existing document, so that the newly defined part is not linked hierarchically in any way.
